Google By The Order Of The Almighty

Googles is not as positive as it was once. This summer Media expert Marcel Machill called it the new „octopus of the internet buying up every area“ instead of the „friendly, transparent search engine.“

But now Google can finally demonstrate how good a company they really are. After they have made the world a little better with always free web apps, it wants to take a further step on the way to a large-hearted digital globe.

Android, the free operating system, is to be given the humanity in 2008. And it will not only run on high-tech mobile phones of the elite, no, it will work on as many devices as possible. To condition the Android to that, Google has united more than 30 leading companies of the branch to an alliance, the “Open Handset Alliance“. Happily, they jumped on the bandwagon which is not only visionary but profitable to the same extent: the most important passenger of the bandwagon might be the ideational thought of providing mobile phones of different manufacturers with a standard OS.

Now, everything’s going to be alright, at least in the digital world. “This partnership will help unleash the potential of mobile technology for billions of users around the world“, Google-CEO Eric Schmidt wallows in pathos. Finally! Finally the inhabitants of this world are freed from their “propriatary ties” of the evil other manufacturers (standing outside the alliance). “Our vision is that the powerful platform we’re unveiling will power thousands of different phone models.”

Thank goodness for Google. Of course nobody thinks of any company grabbing market shares here. Pursuit of dominance? Nonsense. The sympathy of software developers Google should win on any account, since Android is completely Open Source. According to Google, the main difference to other mobile operating systems is that anyone can take the software and change it in the way he or she likes. Creative minds are invited cordially to put into action of what they have always just been dreaming (because of a lack of possibilites without the alliance of the good).

My comment: Android, of course, is based on Linux.
